JK Wrangler Seat Guide
JK Wrangler Optional Side Impact Airbags
Starting in 2009, the JK Wrangler was available with additional side impact airbags mounted in the seats. Side impact airbags can't be added however many people do remove them frequently for "off-road use" with a resistor.
Before purchase, check your original seats for an "SRS" tag. If you're missing the original seats, check the VIN. As a rule of thumb, If the 4th digit is a "B", the vehicle was not equipped with side air bags. If the 4th digit is an "H", it was likely equipped with side airbags.
Seat Design: 2007 - 2012 Seats vs 2013 - 2018 Seats
The JK Wrangler debuted with the seats that featured sharp angles and a unique aggressive styling. These seats are nick-named the 'square-back' JK seats.
In 2013 the Wrangler updated the interior with softer edges and materials. These new seats featured more rounded edges garnering them the nick-name 'round-back' JK seats.
